Nov. 4, 2010 Big Day! 16000 sq. ft. of Concrete!

This was the big day to pour concrete.  Praise the Lord for sunny dry weather and 4 different subcontractors on the job site.  10 people from the concrete plant, 12 from the concrete finishing company, 1 person representing our concrete contractor, 1 person running the pump truck, and Keith, Bill, Cal and 2 other employees from Dean Ryan Homes.  29 people working to make this a safe successful pour.  Again, we thank God that this could happen before the ground freezes.
First cement truck arrives; 6:30am

This machine is called a Laser Screed.  It automatically levels the concrete using laser electronics.

Laser Screed.  You can see the laser tripod in the background.

The head of the laser screed pulls and vibrates the concrete to smooth.

Leroy, Bob and Bill taking in all the action.

More onlookers on this sunny day.

Last of 23 trucks!

Almost finished pouring!

Keith takes a pose on the Ride-on power trowel...the workcrew was on these trowels till dark smoothing the floor.  (This is Rob's version of the Zamboni!)

November 2nd - prepping for concrete

The guys had to lay down 16,000 sq. ft. of tarp and then have it covered in sand.  With the wind picking up, they had their work cut out for them.
Keith, Caleb (Dean Ryan Homes employee) and Bill.

This truck is called a "Slinger" and it's flowing sand is all operated by remote control...very cool!

Sand is flying and the tarps are down.

October 23-25, 2010

Welcome to the Community Church of Ephrata's building project blog!  It's an exciting time to see dirt moving and concrete being poured as we see the makings of our new church in progress.  This past week has been extremely busy in order to get the ground ready for concrete before it freezes.

Beautiful sunny Saturday to  move some dirt.
